Apartment rents in Australia's combined capital cities are expected to grow 26% between 2023-28, due to a combination of rising demand and limited supply, according to property group CBRE.

โ€œThe demand for housing is expected to benefit from the triple boost of rising population, rising jobs and rising income,โ€ CBRE said.

Supply, though, may struggle to keep up.

Based on Australia's forecast population growth, 75,000 new apartments need to be built each year. However, between 2023-28, supply is likely to range from a low of 60,000 per year (in 2024 and 2027) to a high of 80,000 (in 2026), according to CBRE.
